How to learn a language fast?

Learning a language can be difficult if you lack a proper method to do so. However, there are some tips and tricks that allow you speed up the process dramatically. In this article, we will give you just that so that you don’t give up halfway and have fun with your language learning journey. Here goes:

1/ Immersion technique

Immersion technique

You will learn another foreign language by creating the same environment which you learned your mother tongue. Try to surround yourself with your target language and use it as often as possible. Your best bet is to travel to a country where people speak your target language. If you don’t have the means to do it, bring the language to you. Try listening to its music, thinking in that language and or labelling everything in your house with the vocabulary in your target language.

2/ Enjoy the process

You will not learn anything effectively when under stress. Because of that, be as comfortable as you can and try not to put any pressure on yourself. If you make a mistake, don’t make a mountain out of a molehill. Just consider it a minor setback, move on because even native speakers make mistakes sometimes. Don’t let one small obstacle get in your way of mastering your target language.

3/ Speaking

Speaking english

This is the most important one and a challenge for most people as well. They always fear that they will make mistakes when speaking and people will laugh at them. The truth is anything but that. When native speakers hear that you have made a small mistake or even mistakes, they can still understand what you are trying to convey. Furthermore, they will make an effort to talk back to you in a much slower tone. Because of that, have no fear and just speak it.

4/ Entertaining material

If you want to enjoy the process, the material that you use to learn the language must be funny and engaging. Our average attention span is not that long and we can easily get distracted. Because of that, you need to use materials that are of your interests. For example, if you like movies, then watch movies of your target language with subtitles. There are lots of websites that allow you to watch free movies online, so just do a quick search and get learning. My recommendation is which I used most of the time to learn English.

5/ Repetition

Practice english

If you repeat something over and over again, it has a very high chance of becoming your reflex. We forget almost what we learn right after we finish studying so review is very important. However, reviewing boring material over and over will make you want to quit studying immediately. Instead, you should choose a catchy song that you like, your favorite films or your favorite pieces of articles as mentioned in the above paragraphed. You will just want to repeat them until your mind is saturated and then do it all again the next day.

6/ Be patient

Like the old saying:” Rome wasn’t built in a day”, i.e. everything takes time and dedication. You will not magically speak the language fluently, let alone like a native over a short period of time. Just focus on learning it with all your mind and after a certain time, say, 1 month, you will notice a remarkable difference.

That was it from me. I hope these tips are enough to help you on your language learning journey. The process can be challenging and formidable but I can guarantee that the results will be worth it.
